Huck and I have listened to hours and hours worth of love songs and we are still searching for our first dance song. I never knew how hard some of this wedding stuff would be! I am hoping that we will make our decision soon because I think we are both ready to move on from this musical nightmare.
Sometimes I wonder if we are just over thinking the choice. Each time we both say to each other, "but is it US?" I don't know that any song out there is going to embody us completely. We share this idea of the perfect song that will express our love perfectly. I hope we aren't setting ourselves up for failure, holding fast to unrealistic expectations of "our" song.
There is just so much planning that goes into picking the right song. Besides trying to pick the song with lyrics that grip our souls, we are trying to pick a song with a beat that we can actually dance to. Who knew that love songs didn't always have a smooth beat that is easy to keep up with?
Now... I don't want you guys to get the wrong idea. Huck and I are dancing fools. We both have exceptional dancing genes. We've got the moves like Jagger and we know how to feel the music-- but some of these melodies are too confusing, even for the best of us. I truly believe that even Chris Brown and Usher would struggle with some of these songs.
But I will not fret. We will be victorious in this musical struggle. Just don't judge us if we flip out and end up picking some Michael Bolton song to celebrate our nuptials. It might come down to that...
You should just choose Moves Like Jagger for the first song! Haha!
ReplyDeletePicking the wedding song is definitely a tough feat. JD and I also had conflicting feelings about the song... we joyfully settled on "You Make My Dreams Come True" by Hall & Oates. It's a classic song, yet not a traditional wedding song (we LOVED that characteristic!!) and it was upbeat so we could jam in only the way the new Mr. and Mrs. Todd could jam. THAT makes the perfect wedding song.
My suggestion? Pick out your favorite artists on Pandora and listen to the station throughout the day. Switch the station the next day and so on. You'll find the perfect song!!
PS: I miss you, lady!! You will be such a beautiful bride!!! AHHHH!! :)
